There are various types of PCB circuit boards, which can be classified according to board, structure, process, etc. PCB circuit boards can be divided into PCB single panel, PCB double-sided board, and PCB multi-layer board according to structure; The common multi-layer boards are four or six layer boards, and complex PCB multi-layer boards can reach more than ten layers. This article introduces several common panels through classification.
1. PCB single panel
PCB single panel is the most basic circuit board in the PCB industry. As the name suggests, a single panel has wires on one side and plug-in components on the other side. PCB single panels were widely used in various industries in the early days, but due to the high wiring requirements of PCB single panels, each line must have a separate path and cannot intersect; For PCB boards with multiple wiring, stability is insufficient and performance is also lacking, gradually moving towards dual panel development. Therefore, the utilization rate and yield of PCB single panels are gradually decreasing; At present, PCB single panels are widely used in power boards.
2. PCB double-sided board
PCB double-sided board is a board with double-sided wiring on the board. An important feature of double-sided panels is the presence of conductive holes that connect the wires on both sides to form a circuit. The wiring of double-sided panels can be staggered, which is the biggest difference from single panels; Double sided panels are more suitable for complex circuits and have a wider range of applications. The cost difference between single and double-sided panels is not significant. If there are no special requirements, various industries will prioritize the use of double-sided panels; After all, double-sided panels have better performance and stability than single panel panels.
3. PCB multi-layer board
Simply put, PCB multilayer board refers to using more single and double boards alternately through insulation materials and positioning systems, and then interconnecting the lines to form a multilayer circuit board. For example, using a double-sided board as the inner layer and two single panels as the inner layer, four layer boards are formed through technology. The design of multilayer boards is more flexible and the electrical performance is more stable and reliable. Currently, the most commonly used multi-layer boards in various industries are still four or six layer boards, and the consumer electronics industry uses higher-level PCB boards more frequently. Although multi-layer panels have advantages over double-sided panels in terms of performance, stability, noise, etc., more companies and engineers still prioritize double-sided panels for cost considerations.
